Transferred from the India Museum in 1879. India Museum Slip book entry 11905: 'Woman's Garment / Saree / Berhampore in Ganjam District / 55.' Note the 1880 Register entry for 2095(IS) is incorrect. Swatches from the original textile appear in John Forbes Watson's The Textile Manufactures of India, vol. V, no.164.
