Gallery label | This type of 'lampwork' is characteristic of glass production from Thuringia in eastern Germany. Canes of glass are melted and worked over a single flame. In this case the vase has a moulded foot which is atypical. Glassworks in the area specialise in fancifully decorative items but it is also a centre for the production of glass tubes and phials for use in laboratories |
