The plate, almost certainly made at the Bombay School of Art in the 1880s, was given to the museum as a 'cake stand'. It may actually have been used as a tray for rotis, or Indian unleavened flatbreads.

Physical description | The circula plate has a flat top and ring foot. It is made of earthenware, glazed over white slip decoration which consists of a central sun rosette from which with stylised palmettes radiating outwards. A border of interlocking circles between single lines is at the outer edge. |
