Object history | Reporting on the Museum's Iranian holdings to date in May 1873, Robert Murdoch Smith assessed this object as follows: "This is by no means a very good specimen of turquoise ornamentation in which the Persians excel. This kind of ornament is much used for Kalian (water pipe) bowls of gold some of which are very beautiful. " (V&A Archives) |
