Bird cage, circular drum shape with thin wooden base raised on four carved ivory feet, lower sides and circumferential ribs partly carved with flowering prunus in relief, the thinner ribs with bamboo joints. The sides barred with quills which are used radially to enclose the top, surmounted by a large brass hook for suspension of the cage. Carved with four openwork ivory panels with figures round the sides for use in opening the cage, in feeding or cleaning, and in the attachment of receptacles; an ivory support for a table in the centre is broken off. Remains of Chinese inscription on the base.
