This is a portrait of Elizabeth, Lady Stuart de Rothesay (died 1867). She was the mother of Louisa, Marchioness of Waterford, and Charlotte, Viscountess Canning. The miniature is illustrated on page 42 of A. J. C. Hare, The Story of Two Noble Lives (1892). This tells the story of Louisa and Charlotte, who were both amateur artists.

Wearing a dark green dress and shawl, with a white lace head-dress under a dark green veil, three strings of pearls and a pink rose. Inscribed on backing card Lady Stuart de Rothesay / Painted by A. Dixon 1865
