Temple cloth of cotton painted in tempura colours on a prepared ground. In the middle in the mid-space of the blue sky, two rakshasas with swords fly above the earth and uphold a type of triptych upon which stand the Buddha and his right and left hand disciples. In the upper sky fly two Devas bearing pink lotus-buds whilst on the earth at the bottom of the picture in a three-clad rocky landscape, the Bodhisattva is seen to the left cutting off his hair, and in the middle is the death of the horse Kanthaka in the presence of Chandaka and three kneeling devas. At the top is a roller.
