A modelled head and neck of Buddha from a stucco figure. The chin and lips are damaged. The hair rises from a peak in shallow modelled waves to a flattened pyramidal ushnisha. The ear lobes are prominently pierced and the eyes are heavily lidded under the arched edges (the right brow has suffered some damage) of eyebrows which curve down onto the bridge of the nose. The neck retains one incised circular line.

Acquired from Evert Barger, Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of Bristol and Philip Wright, V&A Museum, as part of the collection of finds excavated during their expedition to the Swat valley in 1938. This is no. 36 in Barger's lists.
