Object history
Found in 1879 in a deserted shrine at Tal Chotiali in Southern Afghanistan, and said to have been used by the Balish[?] warriors who inhabited that district in the 9th and 10th centuries.

Given by Griffin W. Vyse[?] Esq, 18 Coromandel Place. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Museum records (Asia Department registers and/or Central Inventory) as part of a 2023 provenance research project.
