Female doll of stuffed cotton fabric, dressed in garments of silk, satin, cotton, gauze, with jewellery of silver and gold glass beads.
The figure represents a Muhammadan Lady of high rank. the features are stitched onto the white cotton ground in black, red and white thread. The hands and feet are of red silk to imitate henna stain. The garments consist of cotton drawers and short under-robe (qamia), trousers (paejama) of cherry satin and white cotton, edged round the ankles with gold braid; a brown check silk coat with the same braid round the bottom and cuffs; and a voluminous white gauze veil worked with white silk floral sprigs, to which an additional piece worked with pink silk at the edges has been stitched. Round the neck are light blue and magenta silk scarves, and in the left hand is a dark blue silk handkerchief. Strings of imitation gold and silver beads ornament the neck, hair and drum shaped hat. The hat has also a piece of black ostrich feather secured on one side by a pink celuloid rosette. Ten long plaits of dark brown human hair hand down off the back.
