Object history | Used in the Royal Weights and Measures Office, Mandalay prior to the year 1886; Gift of the Hon. Lady Beatrix Gatacre, wife of Sir William Forbes Gatacre, K.C.B., D.S.O., 1843-1906. Sir William was posted to India in 1862 and remained serving in the army in India and Burma during most of the period up until 1897. Given by The Hon. Lady Beatrix Gatacre. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Museum records (Asia Department registers and/or Central Inventory) as part of a 2023 provenance research project. RP M5484-1912 |
