Bisque-fired, terra-cotta water goglet/pitcher, shaped on the potter’s wheel, of clay mixed with egg white. The pitcher has a globular body with a long tubular neck, atop a circular expanding foot. The dome-like lid is detachable.

Object history
'WATER GOGLET (Surahi), shaped on the potters wheel, of clay mixed with the white of egg. The resulting terra-cotta biscuit, after firing, is of a peculiar density. Made by the potters of JORHAT, SIBSAGAR DISTRICT, ASSAM, N.E. INDIA; about 1900. H. 10 ¾ in., diam. of body, 5 ¾ in. Given by H. Shuldham Shaw, Esq.
