Wall Fountain

17th century (made)

Fountain of white marble, and mosaic-work of sandstone, slate and glazed earthenware tilework. Bengal (Gaur) 17th century.
With a protuding arched top leaving a geometrical pattern in blue and yellow small tiles, and traces of white stone and dark-grey slate. Recessed beneath this top is a white marble upright panel, carved in low relief with a fluted bowl from which rise tall stems of iris, carnations and tulip in rectangular, and has an indenture at the back and a hole for the overflow at the right side. Immediately above the fluted bowl on the upright panel is another hole for a water-pipe.
