Incense Burner
Incense-burner of cast bronze, for a Chinese Muhammadan mosque, bearing inscriptions in debased Arabic characters probably signifying, "There is no God but God and Muhammad is his prophet." Underneath is a seal Nui Y'an Chiao She, "For worship of the tutelary gods on the inner altar." Reign mark of Xuande (1426-35). There is a carved wood stand.
A shallow bowl with two monster-head handles, standing on three feet also ornamented with masks of 'monsters'. The side is engraved with two panels of inscriptions on a punched ground and has two rows of bosses imitating rivets. The inscription on the bottom is surrounded by two dragons in relief. The circular stand on three feet is carved to imitate bamboo stems.
