Cabinet lacquered red and decorated with panels carved and gilded. The hinge is divided into three panels of (?) fretwork. Below are four doors hung on pivots. Each door is divided into four panels carved with figure subjects animals and foliage in high relief and gilt: two of the panels are set against a ground of black silk. Below are panels in a similar style and the sides are also decorated in this manner, the upper of the two panels into which they are divided being backed with silk. The interior is fitted in the centre with a shelf and two drawers below. The doors open with brass loop handles on engraved back plates. Chinese, Reign of Ch'ien Lung (1736-1795)
