Doll made of wood, representing a Japanese rickshaw (jiurikisha)driver or kurumaya. The figure wears three garments, the innermost of plain black cotton reaching to the waist, then a long sleeveless black silk coat, reaching to below the knees and open down the front, and a shorter black cotton overcoat (hanten), also open down the front, with long, wide sleeves. The two outer garments have geometrical patterns, reserved in white; Chinese lettering on the lapels of both. The figure also wears tight breeches (momohiki) of black cotton, and a girdle, with square pattern (alternately red and white.)
