Bequeathed by Mr. George Salting, accessioned in 1910. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Asia Department registers, as part of a 2022 provenance research project.
Labelled 'L. Huth' and '215'. This plate was exhibited by Mr Louis Huth at Burlington Fine Arts Club 1895; Cat. No. 215

The scene is possibly from the drama "Xi Xiang Ji" (The West Chamber): Zhang Sheng and Yingying make love. (Part IV, Act I).
