Object history
Purchased from the Rev. Arthur W. Adams (C/O A. H. Grinstead, Esq., Beaconsfill, Hindhead, Surrey), accessioned in 1912. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Asia Department registers, as part of a 2022 provenance research project.
Acquired by the vendor near Swatow.

"The big bowl, the little blue bowl and the green celadon plate with fisherman in blue all came from the village of Foi-tsai, Hakka speaking territory, 6 miles inland from Swatow. These things said to have been remnants of the property of a wealthy sugar merchant executed in the North about 1 years ago." (C.185, 186, 23-1912)
