Design for dancers and singers in To See Such Fun, showing three full length figures, to the left, a male figure in a short, dark purple, double breasted jacket with brown lapels and, to each side, three large white or silver buttons, a white pleated shirt, a lilac bow tie and brown trousers. To centre, a female figure in a full length, low cut purple dress, with, at the waist, a belt of linked white squares, the bodice decorated with narrow bands of white forming v-shapes to the front and diagonal stripes to each hip, the sleeves randomly patterned with spots or sequins and ending in wide feather edged cuffs, and, to the right, a male figure in a plum coloured, single breasted jacket with brown curved lapels and brown buttons and cuffs, a white shirt, a brown tie and brown trousers. The background is painted in grey-brown gouache. The whole is framed within a rectangle drawn in ink. The design is signed and dated and inscribed with the name of the scene and the characters.

Object history | This is one of a collection of designs for pantomime and cabaret, given to the Theatre Museum by the designer, Cynthia Tingey, who created the costumes for 15 of the annual London Palladium pantomimes. This design was made for dancers and singers in the revue, To See Such Fun, London Palladium, 26 April 1971. The production was directed by Albert J. Knight. |
