Historical context | After one of a pair of candlesticks presented to Chester Cathedral by the Duke of Westminster in about 1880. The candelabra are said to have come from the Church of S. Tommaso in Milan, but are related to three pairs of candelabra in Rome by Orazio Censore (d. 1622): one in S. Trinità dei Pellegrini and two in S. Andrea della Valle. |
