Place of origin |
Sophy Ricketts's work explores uncertain psychological and spatial terrains at night, particularly the nowhere landscapes of arterial roads and roundabouts. These half worlds are occupied by unexpected figured. 'Are they paralysed', the artist has written, 'by their very presence in this hinterland that offers no way of escape, or are they contemplating the dark space of the night, the secrets it hides and the incredible possibilities that it contains?'
