Engraved on a blank almost certainly made by Whitefriars Glass Ltd, about 1950-5. This form is a standard Whitefriars shape and was designed probably by E. Barnaby Powell in about 1933-5. David Peace acquired this bowl and others during the 1950s. Engraved, for the new Glass Gallery, 'Life is not a cup to be drained but a vessel to be filled'
