Casket and cover, carved in green-grey steatite. The body is bowl-shaped with low ring foot: the cover is convex with central knob (missing). Both parts are carved in low relief with radiating vertical lotus-petal alternating with petals of chevron-ornament.

Object history
Given by the Royal Asiatic Society of London in 1924 to the India Museum. Transferred to South Kensington Museum in November 1879. Renumbered in 1924.
Historical context
A similar casket was found in a stupa at Taxila, Rawalpindi District, N.Punjab, containing coins of the Shaka King Azes l (58-15 B.C.)
