This is a plaster cast of a portion of arcading showing putti, swags, heads in medallions, and other decorative motifs from the Great Cloister of the Certosa (charterhouse) in Pavia, Lombardy. An allegorical figure holding a book is depicted in the central medallion, surrounded by angels and classicising motifs; beneath is a standing figure. The plaster cast was made by an Italian firm based in Milan.
