Painting, in opaque watercolour and gold on paper, portrait of Jodh Bai, daughter of Raja Udai Singh of Jodhpur, who became the wife of Mirza Salim (afterwards Emperor Jahangir) in 1585. The princess faces left, and is seen to just below the breast, she wears a yellow and gold sari, and forehead, ear and neck jewellery of pearls, rubies and emeralds. Her forehead is tinted with orange colour; she is raising her right hand to her lips. The mount is decorated with rows of iris plants and scrolling shapes.
