A processional scene depicting Captain (later Colonel) James Tod riding an elephant. He is accompanied by Captain Waugh, Dr Duncan, and Lt. Carey on horseback, as well as several horseman and five footmen carrying a palanquin. Inscriptional evidence records this painting was presented to Rawat Gokul Das of Devgarh. This painting is most likely a contemporary copy of another composition (IM.447-1914) that is attributable to the artist Chokha (fl. 1799-1826), active at both Udaipur and Devgarh in the early nineteenth century. This work was most likely painted by a more pedestrian Udaipur-trained artist.
