This stone relief is made by an unknown artist in Britain in ca. 1910-1920. The emblem on the relief is derived from the regimental badge of the Black Walsh, the Royal Highland Regiment, which includes the figure of St Andrew. The motto - which refers to the thistle - is taken directly from the regimental badge. Scotland's Black Watch is an elite military regiment whose history stretches back almost three centuries.
