"Camp Fire Girls" handbook, apparently made up of the remains of two separate volumes, including a supplemented version by the British movement's national headquarters in London. It is printed in brown on cream and ivory-coloured paper, with photographic and printed illustrations, and stitched within in fawn paper covers. The front cover is printed in white and shades of brown, and shows a Camp Fire Girl in her non-ceremonial outfit of a middy blouse and short skirt., within a border of symbolic Camp Fire motifs.

Object history
Used by the donor's mother, Edith Harris (born circa 1908), who eventually became a Camp Fire Guardian (i.e. adult leader).
Historical context
Dr Luther H Gulick & his wife Charlotte founded the movement in the USA in 1912; the British movement followed in 1921. See also B.2-1994 (a different gown); B.387/391-1997 & copy prints of Edith Harris in her gown.
