Magic Steps Orange Tip Carmine

Pair of Children's Shoes
1995 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Pair of girl's T-bar shoes, with stitched uppers of cherry-red leather, synthetic linings, and soles of moulded plastic.

The round- toed uppers have cuffs of red suede around the backs of the anklee. Each vamp is decorated with perforations, a diamanté gemstone, and a motif of a stylized butterfly against foliage, machine-embroidered in maroon and shades of red. The soles and low heels, of cherry-red moulded plastic, are elaborately decorated with designs of leaves and stylized butterflies, to leave an impression in soft surfaces or print the pattern on a dry surface after being moistened (the heels are particularly effective, with a deeply-recessed butterfly in the form of a flower, and inner edges cut with the edentate lines of the leaves). The shoes fasten with an instep strap and yellow metal buckle.

With the shoes is the original packaging, consisting of a rectangular box and removable lid, both of white-covered corrugated cardboard printed green on the outside.
