This penknife was made by Vauzy, one of the oldest knife-makers in the little town of Thiers in France. Thiers was the main centre for the manufacture of knives in France in the 19th century, and remains so to this day. This knife was acquired in Dalmatia in 1912, together with items of traditional silver jewellery from the region.

Physical description
Penknife, with single steel blade and hilt of horn dyed pink, attached on each side by three brass and steel rivets. There is a decorative brass and steel rosette attached to the hilt on one side.
