Part of a small collection of metalwork, designs and photographs documenting the work of A.F. Thompson, `art metal worker'. His address appears to have been 8 Noel Street, Wardour Street , London W1, in 1908, and later 19 Effingham Road, Lee Green, London, SE12 (1955). Illustrated work includes for example, a processional cross, 1908; metalwork for the shop front of International Art Galleries Ltd; an altar cross for Brisbane Cathedral, 1916, an altar cross and candlesticks for St. Mary's, Graham Street, Sloane Square, 1930; a chalice for Gloucester Cathedral; sliding lift doors for Selfridges; doors for the National Provincial Bank, Luton, a triptych for the Queen of Spain, and a design for an emblem for 99 Squadron, R.A.F., dated 1940.

Physical description
Name plate, a rectangular panel of silvered base metal. embossed and chased with an inscription in the centre. The inscription is arranged within an oval placed within a rectangle. Flowers and foliage within a triangular reserve at each corner. There are holes drilled at regular intervals along the edges for attachment to a wall.
