This brass inkstand was designed and manufactured by Herbert Mason and Co. of Birmingham. Mason was formerly a student of the Birmingham and South Kensington Schools of Art. The Museum bought the inkstand from the International Health Exhibition in London in 1884.

Physical description | Brass inkstand consisting of a central vase ornamented with pierced foliage and raised masks of marine deities, with a sea-horse at each end, resting on an oval stand with a pierced platform and applied figures of cherubs at the extremities and sides. On the lid is a group of two young tritons supporting a trident. |
