A white marble and ormolu French mantel clock and matching candelabra supplied by Raingo Freres, the clock in the form of a pedestal supporting two Bacchantes; each candelabrum in the form of a fluted urn supported by a group of three standing boys , with ten branches for candles.

The clock is in the form of a pedestal supporting a group of two Bacchantes, one kneeling and the other standing; each sustains a garland of vine and ivy, the other end being held by a boy leaning against a small urn; the whole rests on a base supported by two recumbent lions and six knob feet.

Dial: white enamel 14.6 cm diameter with outer minute ring numbered at intervals of five and a set of Roman numerals in blue. At each half hour a gilt rosette on a slim stem flanked by a pair of side-stems each curving into a gilt spot. Winding holes inside IIII and VIII. Regulation hole piercing 60 mark. The dial signed 'Raingo Fres Paris'. The Hands pierced, engraved and gilt. The chased bezel is 16.6 cms diameter; the backplate is stamped in a circular recess 'RAINGO FRERES PARIS' and with punches numbers 1019 and 6. Two going barrels. Going train to right, with internal Brocot escapement, steel pallets, escape wheel of 37 T, the pallets spanning 12T. Pendulum of overall length 17.8 cm, with steel rod and brass-covered lead bob 4.5 cm diamter, 1.6 cm thick, the front and back faces flat and with flattened sides, the front and back faces bevelled at top and bottom; numbered 1019 and 6.

Each candelabrum consists of a fluted urn supported by a group of three boys standing on a pedestal set round with three curved supports and resting on three oblong feet, from the top of the urn spring ten branches for candles. All three pieces are ornamented with ormolu mounts of drapery and foliage and enriched mouldings; the figures are of ormolu.

A garniture of a mantel clock and pair of candelabra of white marble and ormolu. The clock dial is placed in a pedestal supporting a group of two Bacchantes . The candelabra consist of urns supported by putti. The combination of white marble and sculptural ornament in ormolu is characteristic of the furnishing bronzes in the neo-classical style produced by this renowned firm of Paris bronziers in the second quarter of the nineteenth century.
