TRIVET Wrought iron and turned wood England; 1750-1800 The trivet - the name means 'three feet' - was a simple stand designed to support cooking vessels when off the fire. This is an example of a form which appeared c. 1750-1800, designed so that it could be hooked onto the bars of a firegrate. Museum No. 6-1893(07/1994)
