These scissors would have been considered both fashionable and functional when they were manufactured. When the handle is closed, two birds appear to kiss as their beaks meet together. The blades are designed to resemble an obelisk supported by two dogs, who stand either side of an urn.

Physical description
Pierced and chiselled steel scissors, marked 'A.M.'. The blades, when closed, resemble an obelisk and are supported by a pair of dogs and an urn. The handles are scrollwork, and are decorated with a pair of birds.
