Place of origin

This was described as 18th century when it was acquired, and as 'used as a weapon by peasant lads in Upper Bavaria from about 1700 to the present time'. It would certainly fulfil that function very well. It was bought for five shillings and one penny at the International Exhibition, London, 1872.
