The bear is jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips and stuffed with wood-wool and kapok. In the body is a sound mechanism, growler, which no longer works. The eyes are large wooden boot buttons. The back has a hump and the feet as long and relatively narrow, however, their shape has been altered with the recovering of the pads.

The bear was given to the donor, born Joan Hollowell August 10, 1920, by her godmother Miss `Bunny' Rapson who had owned the bear.
