Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
table lamp, steel, the frame painted black is constructed of a steel rod placed at a 45° angle within two narrower steel rods, curved to form an arc. The straight rod with a rubber grommet at the base, contains the twin core flex and is surmounted, at an angle to the main shaft, by a simple Bakelite socket with a plain moulding, containing a bayonet fitting. At the base of the curved arc is a rectangular loop, set at right angles to provide lateral stability. The top of the curved section drops sharply downwards, forming a stirrup which loops around the straight shaft supporting the socket. The steel shade forms the segment of a sphere and has a large, circular aperture at an oblique angle through the top. The shade is attached to the two curved rods by two screws, secured to a narrow rectangular plate beneath by threaded bolts. The interior of the shade is painted white. The external surface is painted a pale grey with a white splattered effect
