Stacking chair, 'Mariola', with a wooden frame, woven can seat and back. The slightly splayed legs are made of laminated plywood (14 layers). The rectangular section has rounded corners which extend upwards above the seat level to curve around and connect in the flat arms. Each leg has a black leather buffer set into its foot. The left leg is branded just below the seat level, 'Zanotta/ Mad in Italy'. Beneath the front seat rail is a high back enamelled, narrow gauge steel tube stretcher, slightly dished in the centre. The seat projecting forwards beyond the legs slopes slightly backwards and is bent in a sharp curve to rise upwards at the leg level to form the back.
The frame of the seat is formed of a similar tube to the front stretcher. Two projecting spurs fix the front legs, and the four spurs fix the back legs. The frame is covered in wicker, probably coated.
