Wooden cabinet covered with black textured cloth. The front of cabinet has a large glazed oval cutaway in the centre, with an elaborately moulded metal frame. The whole of this oval contains a large tuning scale with a radiating metal pointer, stations are printed in black, green and red on a cream ground. The design of the scale incorporates a diagram of the world. Centrally-placed, below this scale, are three small, dark brown plastic control knobs. Attached to the top of the cabinet is a leather strap handle. Both sides of the cabinet are vented to allow emissions of sound from the loudspeaker.

Purchased by the Circulation Department from Tudor Rees (Vintage Services), in 1977 [77/1157]. On entry to the Museum its condition was noted as 'good'.
