Pair of Chairs
ca. 1740 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Pair of chairs with backs of interlaced straps with Rococo detailing along the cresting and on lower part of 'splat'. Seats upholstered with modern needlework in a fairly good imitation of the typical upholstery-embroidery of the period (large flowers in what would originally have been bright colours on a brown ground); the imitation has 'built in' fading, fixed with brass-headed nails. Cabriole legs with claw and ball feet in front, decorated with typical floral scrollwork. The back legs end in pad-feet.
