The following description has been transcribed from the original accession record of 1907. Hall chair of carved mahogany painted with a crest. Solid back with arched top and incurved sides, carved above with a sunflower ornament and below with a fluted band; in the middle is a sunk panel painted with a crest consisting of two arms in mail holding a flag, upon a turret. The seat is rounded in front. The straight front legs are turned.

Object history
A design exists in the Dillow Records for a chair very similar to the above. The design is dated September 1826 and is in Book.9 (go.242).
