Soft Toy

1925-1935 (manufactured)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Soft toy designed to represent an orang-utan. The head and body are of dark ginger mohair with the face and ears of cream felt marked to show the facial features. The eye is black and black glass. The hands and feet are cream felt formed over wire frames and stitched to show fingers and separate thumb. The tail is movable and operates the head movement.
To the front of the chest is stitched a pale red ribbon bow.

*Many of Schuco toys bore a card disc label sewn to the chest front below a red ribbon bow. The bow on this toy is very similar to those and as the movement is one of Schreyer's designs, they are likely to be the makers.
