Karl (Carl) Witzmann was one of several students and teachers from the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshops) who provided designs for the J. Loetz Witwe glassworks. This design, of 1913, was first shown in the Österreischisches Museum für Kunst und Industrie (Austrian Museum of Applied Arts) winter exhibition, 1913-14, and subsequently in the Österreischisches Werkbundes (Austrian workshops) display in the Köln Werkbundausstellung (Cologne workshops exhibition) in 1914 where it was listed as Loetz factory number 28, costing 45 Bohemian crowns. This exhibition included work from a number of organisations including the Wiener Werkstätte. This bowl was made in at least two different sizes.
