The robot is lithographed tinplate and the mechanism is housed inside the body with the key protruding from the right side. It is predominantly green with red, black, yellow and silver markings. The chest is covered with clear red plastic under which a sparking mechanism is located. When wound up the robot moves on two wheels set under it and connected to the mechanism; there is a balancing wheel at the rear end. Originally, the two front wheels would have been covered by paddle-like feet, but these are missing.

Object history | This collection of toys was acquired by the donor while attending Peking University in 1978 and 1979. The majority of the toys were made in China for its own market. See additional notes, B.106-1996. |
Production | Noguchi's Mechanical Mighty Robot was first sold from the late-1960s. The original toys were all-metal. This version most likely dates from the 1970s owing to the presence of a plastic key and wheels. |
