Leather panel on which are seven smaller panels showing the process of ornamental leatherwork: 1- drawn ('gezeichnet); 2- cut ('geschitten'); 3- punched ('gesetzt'); 4- embossed ('getrieben'); 5- modelled ('modelliert'); 6- etched or tooled ('gebeitzt'); 7- painted ('bemalt'). On the label above is inscribed: 'Magasin fuer Berliner Kunstgewerbe. H. Hirschwald Kgl. preussischer und Grossh. badischer Hoflieferant, Berlin, Unter den Linden 54-55'. The whole is surrounded by a frame of floral design with brass knobs. This panel has been reduced for exhibition and it measures now 1 ft. 8 3/4 in x 3ft 3/4 in. Panel unframed 30/12/1931. Discovering made that of these words 'Berlin, Unter den Linden 54-55' remain of the inscription. The remainder was probably cut off when the reduction was made.
