Physical description | Mahogany and ebony with inlay of various woods. Circular base resting on three scrolled ebony feet; the base decorated round its edge and top with Tunbridge Ware borders. The pedestal of tapering square section with canted corners decorated on the edge with applied turned half bobbin mouldings and on the top with a chess board; the black squares of ebony and the white of wood mosaic enclosed in a frame of Tunbridge Ware flowers and an outer frame of alternating triangles of various woods. Underneath the top, held by catches, are two diagrams pasted to pieces of wood giving the names of all the woods used in the outer frame. |
