Neckcloth of dark purple silk, woven with a broad satin border in stripes of various colours. In one corner are embroidered the initials 'C.I. P.F.' and the date 'Anno 1850', interspersed with small stems of carnations and roses in red and blue silks.

Worn by the women of the Vierlande, a district on the Elbe, near Hamburg. North German, 19th century.
