Place of origin

Evening shawl of hand woven silk and rayon. It has a mid-blue silk warp with a coarser rayon weft forming a 2/2 twill ground. The pattern consists of horizontal bands of pink and cream striped with yellow, crimson and pale green. The twill is broken for decorative effect when the stripes are introduced. A long twisted rayon fringe is knotted into all four edges. At the top and bottom it is pale pink, but at the sides it matches the colours of the stripes.
