Place of origin |
Evening dress of fine black silk crêpe seersucker over pale blue silk satin-backed crêpe. With a band of warp-striped gauging mounted over the satin. Soft lines are created by gathered panels trimmed with piping. The bodice is gathered into the low-piped neck and it has a double line of minute running stitches under the bust. The full skirt falls in tiny gathers from the waist and has three gathered tiers, which are emphasised by horizontal bands of satin piping. The crêpe-backed satin foundation is boned at the bodice and has a firm waist-stay attached. The bodice fastens at the centre back with a zip.
